The locomotive of the Northern Rhône Valley, Guigal is by a wide margin the largest producer. Bright ruby. Fresh, primary blackberry and candied cherry aromas are complicated by suave floral and mineral tones. Spicy dark berry flavors show good depth and silky texture, with slow-mounting tannins on the close. 100% Syrah
Morgon, Domaine Marcel Lapierre
I would urge everyone to try this exceptional wine that is more akin to Chambolle Musigny than plain Morgon. Lapierre is the “King of Morgon”. It has beautifully pure old viney fruit, enhanced by 6 months ageing in casks from Prieuré-Roch in Burgundy. No sulphur was used during the elevage. Stylish, Elegant, Persistant on the Palate.

246 Médoc, Château des Cabans
Cabans is a 70/30 cab-merlot blend of a small Chateau called Grand Dutruch Poujeaux. Medoc, just north of Margaux between Chasse Spleen and Ch Clarke. Vinified in temperature controlled stainless steel. 5 months in oak, 20% new. A nose of red and black fruit aromas, and a black tea/flowery instance that lingers on the palate. A roundness and softness to the tannins really amp up the mouth-feel and bolsters this not a fruity style of bordeaux.
